Here’s what’s happening in Sanford, NC this week! From jazz performances to family movie nights, there’s something for everyone.
✊🏿 Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom
The City of Sanford Appearance Commission invites you to a free evening of performances exploring the impact of slavery while celebrating the fight for freedom. The event features:
- African Dance and Drumming: By Chris Thompson and the Cultural Ensemble.
- Original Music: By Rod Brower and the Together-N-Unity Choir.
There is also a writing contest for high school students in Lee County, with the first-place winner sharing their entry at the event. 🎤✍️
🎷 Jazz Tales: A Night of Music and Storytelling
Join us for a special presentation of “The Day the Instruments Split” and enjoy an evening filled with incredible performances! This event will feature: 🎶
- Jazz Tales: My special presentation with original music by Gregg Gelb, performed live by The Heart of Carolina Jazz Society.
- La Fiesta: Latin Jazz Quintet with incredible tunes.
- Magetsi: 4-H Club Latin Dancers led by the fantastic Myra Rodrigues – and yes, you can join the dance!
- Heart of Carolina: Jazz Orchestra led by Gregg Gelb.
This is a FREE event, but donations are greatly appreciated. Come enjoy a night of music, storytelling, and community. I can't wait to see you there!
